October 12th - The Children’s Day! / 12 de outubro - Dia das Crianças!

The Children’s Day was created in Brazil in 1920, made official in 1924, but only in 1960 the date was really spread around, when a toys industry, together with a big multinational of baby care products, created a promotion to increase the sales. The strategy was very well succeeded and since then the date has been celebrated all over the country. Nowadays this is the third best day in sales, after Christmas and Mother’s Day! Ok, it’s another creation of marketing and capitalism, but we cannot deny that these little creatures deserve a special day only for them! If possible, full of fun, happiness and toys!!!

SOOOO CUTE!!!

I bought a second drum kit which is in my shed that I haven't got time to learn and practice yet... If I can play to half the standard that this child has (above), I'll be happy. He seems to be enjoying himself.

My former pupils learned about Children's Day celebration only from the books. And it was lots of fun. Like what I see in the photos, children all over, are given this day to be themselves.

Hi Lita, my forever-friend!!! Only on book?! Here they celebrate all over the country, with many presents and parties. A little bit exaggerated in consuming, but what can we do? It’s hard to avoid this…what we can do is to teach the kids from the very beginning that the world is not like that!

Hi Robert! It is, in most of the countries, but not here. As I said in the post, a politician changed the day to take advantage... you know as they are, don’t you?!!! The date changed, but they don’t, ehehehe!
