A beautiful homage! / Uma bonita homenagem!

In a very beautiful homage to the New Year that was arriving, the statue of Christ the Redeemer, in Rio de Janeiro city was illuminated by the French-Italian artist Gaspare di Caro. Many images were projected in the statue, such as forests, seas, the Copacabana sidewalk, referring to the beauty and abundance of Brazil’s nature and colors. After the failure of 2009 United Nations Climate Change Conference, in Copenhagen, the intention of Gaspare was "to have all the nations illuminated by the lights of Christ the Redeemer".

The performance started at 8 pm and finished at about 1 am of the first day of the New Year, with the sentence “Happy 2010” projected by multi-colored lights, as shown below.

Como uma belíssima homenagem ao Ano Novo, o Cristo Redentor, na cidade do Rio de Janeiro, foi iluminado pelo artista plástico franco-italiano Gaspare di Caro. Diversas imagens foram projetadas, tais como florestas, mares, o calçadão de Copacabana, numa referência à beleza e à abundância da natureza do Brasil. Após o fracasso da Conferência do Clima, em Copenhagen, a intenção do artista foi fazer com que "o Cristo iluminasse as nações do planeta".

A iluminação multicolorida foi programada para começar às 20:30 do dia 31/12 e terminar às 01:00 do dia 1º, com a frase "Feliz 2010" projetada na estátua, conforme mostrado nas fotos abaixo:
