Poeira 1

I love art, design and decoration, and because of this, I’m very happy to have the first Poeira Store in Rio, now! For me, this is one of the most creative decor stores ever! I’ve been seduced by its vibrant colors and the innovative style, for ages! Her owner, the interior decor designer Monica Penaguião, opened her first store in Lisbon about 15 years ago. She studied at António Arroio, a famous undergraduate art and design school in the city; later on she graduated in Interior Decor at IADE and took a course of design at the prestigious University of the Arts, in London (Central Saint Martin's). She frequently visits the Furniture Fair, in Milan and the Maison et Object Fair, in Paris and carefully selects each piece she sells, letting herself be seduced by simple, functional and comfortable objects, daring to mix old and new in her many interior decor projects. Offering pillows, textiles, furniture, lighting, tableware, rugs and even small personal objects, no one remains indifferent to Poeira’s style!

All tendencies of artful design which I can see in the new Brasilian decor shop are forms and colors. The stunning colorful decor is typical for Brazil as far as I remember. Certainly, nothing beats physically being there to browse and enjoy it all.

My hand slipped and my comment went online with a broken link. How delete it and do it again?

Checked all three posts. Some wild and beautiful things. So bizarre and unusual. Looks like a fun place. My wife would adore it.

Yes Gabriele, our décor is full of vibrant colors and I guess that it’s because of our sunny and tropical weather, and also because of our open minds and hearts! But you know, curiously Monica is a Portuguese designer that caught all this “always on holidays” décor atmosphere, even living and working in Europe most of the time. I think that she also felt in love with our colors and nature, as many other Portuguese, French, Italian and Spanish people, who have been buying properties in Brazil to spend their holidays, starting a business and even living here, as a choice. It is curious that once being here, all of them have colorful houses, hotels, shops, clothes, as they had never lived in cold and grey countries!
About the broken link, I don't know what to do, so, keep the 2nd one that is right!

Martin, I liked the “wild” as a décor definition! I agree with you, some objects and furniture are really bizarre and unusual, I think that having many pieces like that at home would be confusing and very tiring for my eyes! But what I like the most in Monica’s décor is the exact mix and usage of old and modern stuff that she is capable of doing with success, as you can see on the first pictures of the 2nd post; and the 1st one is from her beautiful apartment in Rio!

Hi Riyan! Yes, her projects and shops are amazing, but unfortunately, a little bit expensive! I know that her they are personalized, that she is famous and studied a lot, but paying something about US$ 300, 00 for a cushion…no way!
