The Christ the Redeemer is ready! O Cristo Redentor está pronto!

After four months of restoration, the statue of Christ the Redeemer is finally ready! The enterprise cost R$ 7 million, 100 workers and almost 60 thousand of small pieces of pedra sabão (“soap stone”) were needed to restore the statue, which is 30 meters high and stays 709 meters above the sea level. Now, the huge monument, one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World, is free of all the metallic structures, totally clean, whiter and renewed for celebrating its 80^th anniversary, next year!

Depois de quatro meses de restauração, o Cristo Redentor está finalmente pronto! A empreitada custou R$ 7 milhões, e 100 trabalhadores e 60 mil pedaços de pedra sabão foram necessários para restaurar a estátua, que mede 30 metros de altura e está a 709 metros acima do nível do mar. Agora, este enorme monumento, uma das Sete Maravilhas do Mundo Moderno, está livre das estruturas metálicas, mais branco e totalmente renovado para celebrar o seu 80º aniversário, no próximo ano!
